It was an excellent adventure, with bears, killer whales, wolves and sea lions, to name a few.

Kayaking on my own during the day, and camping on glorious (and not so glorious) beaches during the night. There are small maps showing the kayaking route, and a day by day account of what happened, with photos whenever I could manage the camera, or met someone or something worth photographing. Its not a book about kayaking technique, because I havent got any, more a description of what can be achieved with a good level of determination and a healthy sense of fun. Theres probably enough information in the book (and references) for you to decide whether you like the sound of this kind of adventure and go have one yourself! So whats stopping you?

Have some fun in your life. Have an adventure with enough stories to entertain your grand-kids for weeks…What Real Kayakers thought of this Report:I posted this report on a Canadian Kayaking community website called West Coast Paddler. I thought I would, because I had asked their advice about the effects of kayak length on performance etc.

before I had bought my kayak. They are a very helpful bunch of mainly experienced kayakers. Here’s what they said:• Well thats quite a tale Tom. I enjoyed that. By the way, are you nuts?• Ahahahaha! A totally enjoyable morning read - an entertaining writing style! I would never recommend paddling and drinking - would never do that myself....but will also never enjoy that experience of paddling alone around most of Vancouver Island either! Maybe sometimes we think too much about what we are going to do, instead of just doing it? Congratulations on your adventure!!• Great reading!

(so far... not half way through yet). Ill let others comment on the technical and safety aspects of the trip. Superb photos. For some reason I think Im going to have to finish reading it before attempting a mid-morning nap.• Outstanding read!!!! Love the tongue and cheek style and the subtle humor.

I have been around the Brooks twice solo. Once it was a glass sea going around (very rare!) and the other time, nightmarish! A fantastic read that I highly recommend simply for its entertainment value.• Thanks for wasting an hour of my time at work -) Great read of what sounds like a great adventure.• Bravo! You’ve got Balls in spades!

…..Delta Kayaks must be very pleased overall with the report….for someone who hasn’t got a roll, from what you say, your bracing skills must be exceptional considering some of the conditions you were in.• Just read your tremendous story from start to finish without stopping. Trip of a lifetime, I hope, and proof that God watches over drunks and Englishmen. Im simply in awe. Thanks for sharing.• I agree - a very interesting read.

You are honest and humourous, and seemingly fairly lucky. Im only part-way through so far. Cheers• Tom, thanks for posting your highly entertaining trip report and pictures. Your adventures illustrate the elements I love, and sometimes fear/love, about kayaking.• Yes, Toms most excellent adventure• WOW! A kayaker that loves beer as much as i do :big_thumb• Ive been reading steadily here ever since i joined up a few days ago and this is by far my favorite!

Not to say i didnt enjoy reading others experiences which i did, it’s the devil be damned and what comes will come that i really enjoyed.
